STORY BEHIND THE LOGO

-

Balarinji, a leading Indigenous-owned strategy and design agency was once again commissioned to oversee the process of creating this year’s Indigenous Sport Month logo.

Balarinji’s logo remains entirely true to Maureen Hudson Nampijinpa’s original artwork, drawing out three circular symbols from her painting which represent camps that define points of belonging in pathways across the land. These are long, arduous journeys on Country demanding resilience, knowhow and collaboration – all determinants of success in sport.

This year, our 2022 logo uses dots from the artist’s original piece to show movement and development that sporting pathways offer for positive change. By using the palette of the Australian eucalypt, and Ochre yellow, this concept also links back to the ‘Green and Gold’ of Australian sports.
