Action returns to track

-

SPEEDWAY: Action returns to HI-Tec Oils Speedway this Saturday night, featuring a bigname driver making the trek to the Garden City.

South Australian Anthony Beare is the current national champion for street stocks and has possibly won more titles in speedway than anyone else in the sport in different categories.

Beare’s interest in Saturday night stems from the event doubling as the grand final of the Queensland Street Stock Series and the prelude to the national title to be held in Toowoomba from June 10-12 .

Not only will this give Beare all important track time before the upcoming national titles, it will give the Queenslanders a real benchmark to see what they are up against with one of the best drivers in the country.

Speedcars return to the high banks, and really suit the wide-open track that supports fast racing and plenty of passing opportunities.

The event will pay $2000 for the win, which will attract some of the biggest names in the sport with a new format.

It will be action packed, with a top eight pole shuffle, where the top eight qualifiers racing one-on-one to earn themselves a front row start.

The winner of the first shuffle will progress, and the loser will start the feature from position eight.

The modified sedan grand final is also shaping up to see an exciting night of racing, with Aidan Raymont currently leading the series ahead of Rodney Pammenter, Mick Shelford and Shane MacDonald.

The support program will consist of wingless sprintcars, compacts, lightning sprints and fireworks, on what promises to be an action-packed night of racing.
