Like Ronald Booth, I am against illegal entrants into Australia.

No doubt there are many worthwhile people who have not been accepted (yet) as migrants.

While we have a clear policy that no-one who comes in through un approved channels will be permitted to stay, we have excellent discouragement in place.

As soon as we start making exceptions we are leaving ourselves open.

Years ago when there were great protests going on – my daughter who was working with a “legal migrant” asked him what he thought about it all.

His reply was very definite.

His family had lived in a refugee camp for many years.

They had fully co-operated with Australian authorities and waited until they were legally accepted.

His very definite reply was – “we have no time for queue jumpers.”

Yes there is a very worthwhile family in Biloela but if we bend the rules in one instance, we leave ourselves open for others.
