Saints set to face off with Bears

-

THERE’S no denying the fact USQ are thinking about the top of the Risdon Cup ladder.

The Saints want to keep in touch with ladder leaders Rangers and Dalby but their main focus is on their next match.

Saints are scheduled to host Bears today but if their ground is deemed unsuitable after the recent rain, the match could be moved to Gatton.

Regardless of where it is played, Saints skipper Angus Ramsey knows one thing for certain, his team has a big task ahead of them.

“They’re a big team – especially in the forwards,” he said.

“We’ve got a few players unavailable for various reasons and I’m told they’re in a similar position so things are going to be pretty even.

“They’re a good team and it’s going to be a real challenge for us.”

Ramsey is confident Saints have the players and the game plan to get the job done.

“In the past few seasons we’ve been a team that’s relied on one or two players,” he said.

“I think we’re a lot more well rounded now.

“We’ve got some great young players coming through and others that have been here for a while now and have experience.

“I think we have a really good backline at the moment but we’re going to have to match Bears in the middle before we think about moving the ball wide.”

In the other round six fixtures Roma play host to Dalby, Gatton travel to face Goondiwindi and Rangers will line up against Condamine away from home.
