Areas still cut off in Lockyer
MORE than 40 roads across the Lockyer Valley are still closed as council crews work to repair infrastructure smashed by multiple flood events this year.
As of Monday afternoon roads in and around Murphys Creek, Mount Sylvia, Laidley Heights, Helidon Spa and other areas remained closed due to flooding.
Some roads, like Mount Sylvia Road (pictured below), had been washed away due to the high volume of water.
Lockyer Valley councillor Janice Holstein said access to some communities had yet to be re-established following the flood event, and this work was being prioritised.
“Council is making every effort to respond, with crews deployed across the region cleaning up and assessing damage,” Ms Holstein said in a statement.
The council urged extreme caution when driving around the region.
