CLYDESDALES HANG TOUGH IN PITTSWORTH QUAGMIRE

- SEAN TEUMA

RUGBY LEAGUE: The conditions left both teams unrecognisable after 80 minutes, but for the Western Clydesdales, a muddy Pittsworth could signal the start of a Hasting Deering Colts resurgence.

After a tough run to start the year that saw them on the back of some lopsided scorelines, the Clydesdales took the fight right to the Redcliffe Dolphins, going down 20-10.

The NRL’s newest club headed to the sheds with a handy 14-0 advantage, and threatened to come away with a big win when extending that lead out to 20-0 after 52 minutes of play.

In front of a dedicated crowd braving the elements, the Clydesdales showed the fight supporters have been asking for, hitting back for two tries in the space of five minutes to get to within 10 of the Dolphins.

First it was Darryl Erepia finding his way across the stripe in the 55th minute, before Elliott Speed got the home side to within two tries on the hour mark.

The Clydesdales will now take on the Tweed Seagulls as they look for their first win of the U21s season this weekend.
