Tyrrell’s foster mum denies guilt
THE foster mother of missing toddler William Tyrrell has pleaded not guilty to a charge alleging she gave false or misleading information to the NSW Crime Commission.
The 56-year-old was absent as the plea was heard at Downing Local Court on Tuesday.
The matter will return to court on June 7. An interim suppression order will remain in place, meaning the woman’s identity can’t be revealed.
William Tyrrell was three when he vanished from his foster grandmother’s home at Kendall on the NSW north coast in 2014.
Last month police said detectives from Strike Force Rosann had issued a Future Court Attendance Notice to a 56year-old woman “for knowingly give false or misleading evidence at a hearing”.
The taskforce was set up to investigate the disappearance and probable murder of William Tyrrell.
Detectives spent more than a month late last year digging through thick bushland near the Kendall home to little avail.
William’s foster father earlier this year copped a similar charge relating to giving false or misleading information to the NSW Crime Commission. He also pleaded not guilty.
