MACARONI & TUNA LAYER PIE

SERVES 6. PREP 30 MINS. COOK 35 MINS

INGREDIENT­S

• 100g dried macaroni • 425g canned tuna (or salmon, if preferred) • 2 tbsp margarine • 500ml milk • 4 tbsp plain flour • 125g cheese, grated

METHOD

1 Cook macaroni in boiling water for approximat­ely 10 minutes, drain. Heat margarine or butter in saucepan. Remove from heat when melted, add flour and mix well. Gradually add milk.

2 Return to heat, stirring until thickened. Add half the cheese, pepper and salt to taste.

3 Arrange macaroni, tuna and sauce in layers in a shallow ovenproof dish, finishing with a layer of sauce. 4 Sprinkle with remaining cheese and bake at 180C for 15 minutes.
