WEIGHT ISSUE FOR FIGHTERS

- JAMIE PANDARAM

PUT up or shut up.

That is the warning Kate McLaren has issued to controversial reality TV starturned-boxer Arabella Del Busso after committing to an extreme weight drop to make a fight happen.

McLaren, a former model trained by legend Jeff Fenech, is seething that Del Busso has demanded she now wipe 10kg off her lean frame to get in the ring after their scheduled bout last December was cancelled.

McLaren has two fights for two draws so far, while Del Busso has fought once, winning a three-round decision against social media influencer Papi Katarina.

Del Busso was carried to the ring on a throne and fought in a visible Gstring, and McLaren believes she is merely using boxing for more publicity.

“I’m serious, I want to fight her, I will get down to 60kg to prove I want the fight,” McLaren said.

“She fights at 57.5kg … I agreed to 65kg (last December), and now I am saying I will come down to 60kg. I walk around at about 68kg.

“But Arabella has turned around and said ‘I’ll not fight you unless you hit 58kg’. For someone who is 175cm, to get down to 58kg, I’ll be as light as a feather, one punch and I’ll be on my arse.”

Del Busso will not compromise.

“I just fought at 56.5kg, she would need to come down to 57kg if she wants to fight me, she is calling me out, she really wants to fight, so she can come to my weight,” Del Busso said.

“I don’t need her, I’ve made a name for myself and she is trying to get publicity off me.”
