SPONSORSHIP BUILT TO LAST
LEAGUE: The Western Clydesdales have reined in a principal partner deal that will play a massive role in the club’s Hostplus Cup future.
Hutchinson Builders have agreed to a three-year deal with the elite rugby league club.
“We’re really proud to be a part of the Western Clydesdales as the principal partner,” Hutchinson Builders team leader Sean Lees said. “We’re proud to be involved and we’re excited to see how the boys go.
“A lot of people will remember the (old) Toowoomba Clydesdales days and we’re certainly excited to see the local community have a team in the Hostplus Cup.”
The decision to back the Clydesdales’ return to Queensland’s top-tier league competition was an easy one for the Garden City-based company.
The company is a long-term supporter of the Toowoomba Rugby League and proud ‘locals’.
“We’re all mad footy fans which doesn’t hurt,” Lees said.
“We’ve been involved in the TRL for over a decade now.
“Rugby league in this town is something we’re pretty passionate about and obviously having a team at the most senior (state) level in this region is a big deal so it didn’t take too much arm twisting to get on board.
“We’ve seen some big games over the years with some NRL performances and every time it’s an amazing atmosphere up there (Stadium Toowoomba), the whole community comes together for it.
“Even the TRL the last couple of years after the Covid (cancelled) season has reinvigorated our love for rugby league and I just can’t see it not being successful here.”
Having recently celebrated the signing of a major sponsor, this latest deal is a huge step forward according to Clydesdales commercial manager Fraser Hess.
“It’s a landmark day for the club,” Hess said. “It’s a really sizeable significant investment that gives us as a club the security and ability to go out and really start doing some things for the community and putting together a football team.”
