Snake bites, crashes at weekend

IT’S been a busy weekend for Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics, after they were called to multiple incidents on the Darling Downs and Western Downs. On Saturday at 9.54pm, a male patient aged in their late teens sustained a snake bite to the leg.

He was transporte­d to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

The incident occurred near New England Highway in the area of Highfields.

Two patients are recovering in hospital after they were involved in a single-vehicle crash on Charley’s Gully Road, Freestone. The incident occurred on Saturday at 1.04pm. Both patients were transporte­d to Warwick Hospital in a stable condition.

A QAS spokeswoma­n said one of the patients was a woman aged in her 30s, but the gender and age of the other patient was not provided.

A man aged in his 40s sustained burns to his neck and chest.

The incident occurred in the backyard of a private property, on Saturday afternoon at 12.13. Paramedics transporte­d the male patient to Chinchilla Hospital in a stable condition. On Saturday, a young boy was transporte­d to hospital after he off a motorcycle. Paramedics arrived at the private residence in Roma on Saturday about 11.30am.

The boy was transporte­d to Roma Hospital in a stable condition.

A patient has sustained a serious head injury after they fell from a horse near Dalby. The incident occurred at 6.09am on Saturday. A teenage girl was transporte­d to Taroom Hospital.

A helicopter was also deployed and transporte­d her to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment. Paramedics were called to an incident in Goombi, near Chinchilla, after a person sustained a snake bite on Friday at 9.16pm. The male patient aged in his 50s, was transporte­d to Chinchilla Hospital in a stable condition.
