Seven years of saving pays off for couple

-

A young couple who had been looking to buy for two years could not be more relieved after finally securing a home in one of Brisbane’s most popular suburbs.

Adam Middleton, 27 and Ashleigh Lau, 28, recently paid $1.25m at auction for the five-bedroom house on a 405 sqm block in Prout Street.

New figures from PropTrack reveal the median home price in Camp Hill is expected to increase 55 per cent by 2028, jumping from $1.3m to almost $2m.

Proud new owner Adam Middleton said buying a property was fairly difficult.

“I’d say we’ve been working on it for seven years ... there’s two of us, that makes a big difference,” Mr Middleton said. “We rent in Camp Hill at the moment, a lot of our friends are on the south side, it also has a good bus route into the city”

They now plan to get a dog after years of renting.

“Deciding what sort of dog we get is harder than the house,” Mr Middleton said.

Mr Middleton also said he thought the purchase was a good investment.

“I’d like to think so, but I don’t think you can ever know,” Mr Middleton said.

“As far as interest rates are concerned, we planned for it. We looked at how sensitive our loan is so we know what we’re in for, but it was pretty funny we won the auction last weekend and there was an interest rate increase on Tuesday.”

Marketing agent Joanna Gianniotis of Place Estate Agents took the property to auction on behalf of the sellers.

“I’m so excited for the buyers, they’ve been looking for two years,” Ms Gianniotis said.

Ms Gianniotis said Camp Hill’s demand continued to grow based on its strong track record.

“You can only go off historical growth and Camp Hill has doubled in value,” Ms Gianniotis said.

“The demand for the area is not changing and is only getting stronger — it has a very positive future.”

PropTrack market trends data shows Camp Hill property prices have increased by 8.1 per cent in the past three months.
