Rabbitohs right at home

- LEAGUE LAB Aaron Wallace

South Sydney’s form has hit a minor speed bump over the past two weeks, but a trip to its home away from home against its most favoured opponent would seem just the tonic.

The Rabbitohs have won 10 straight games at Cbus Super Stadium, their longest streak at any venue since the 1970s.

And if they make it 11 wins this week, it will be their best streak at any venue away from home since winning 13 straight at North Sydney Oval between 1914 and 1932.

Their last loss against the Titans in Queensland was in 2009. It’s no surprise then their overall record against the Titans is impressive.

Souths have won 15 of their 21 meetings, their best record against any current opponent and their current seven-game winning streak makes the Bunnies record 13-2 against the Titans since 2011.

More than a third of those wins are by 20 points or more.

Wests Tigers’ current assistant and future head coach Benji Marshall had a brilliant record against the Raiders as a player, and he will be hoping that translates to the coaching side as his team looks to turn around an awful recent record against the Green Machine.

Since 2016, Wests have won just one of 10 games against Canberra, their equal worst and the Raiders’ equal best record over that period – a far cry from Marshall’s impressive 19-3 career record over the Raiders. But it is the margins in those games that is the real cause for concern.

Canberra has scored 374 points to the Tigers’ 96 in those 10 games, with an average winning margin of just over 31 points, easily the biggest of any team against any opponent over that period.

The Tigers have horrible recent form at Campbelltown Stadium; they have lost their most recent six games there.
