MORE than 100 students from our region will have the opportunity of a lifetime this week.

The Queensland Conservatorium at Griffith University in Brisbane, in partnership with The Glennie School, Toowoomba, will bring together 106 young secondary school musicians for an intensive three days of music-making during the second annual State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) Darling Downs.

SHEP Darling Downs runs from today to Sunday, April 22, concluding with a grand finale concert at 1pm on Sunday at The Glennie School.

Entry to the grand finale concert is via gold coin donation.

Presented by Open Conservatorium, SHEP Darling Downs gives participating students the unique opportunity to collaborate with a team of eminent conductors from Queensland Conservatorium.

Bryan Hurdley will lead the wind ensemble, Mark Sullivan the string ensemble and Anthony Young the vocal ensemble.

A total of 15 schools from across the Darling Downs region will have students taking part in the three-day experience that starts at The Glennie School today.
