Banking on a bright future

TOOWOOMBA is quickly shedding its “big’’ country town image that has persisted for so long.

Our city is, in fact, one of the most modern and sophisticated cities outside the state capitals.

And the opening yesterday of FKG Group's $40 million Pulse Data Centre is a perfect example.

The first regional tier III data centre of its kind in Australia, Pulse Data Centre adds to the estimated $11 billion worth of developments under way in Toowoomba, providing a new source of jobs and investment and enhancing the city's attractiveness to global businesses.

The vision and foresight that has gone into this centre are impressive.

Yet, it is only one of a growing number of businesses that are setting the pace not only in Queensland but across Australia.

USQ’s researchers are at the forefront of the mission in the southern hemisphere, following the successful launch of NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite mission in Florida, USA.

The satellite launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre marked the start of the search for planets beyond the solar system and is expected to catalogue thousands of exoplanets.

TSBE is gearing for its second international business excursion - this time to New Zealand.

These and other businesses here are looking well beyond the city borders to opportunities and challenges.

They are to be congratulated.
