New and re­vised awards mean more busi­nesses in Moira Shire will be recog­nised in the 2019 Moira Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence Awards.

Nom­i­na­tions are open for the awards, which recog­nise suc­cess and ex­cel­lence in lo­cal busi­ness.

The event, which will be held on Fri­day, March 29, at Co­bram Civic Cen­tre, will in­clude the pre­sen­ta­tion to win­ners in the fol­low­ing 10 award cat­e­gories:

● young busi­ness per­son, ap­pren­tice or trainee of the year;

● ex­cel­lence in cus­tomer ser­vice;

● ex­cel­lence in re­tail;

● ex­cel­lence in in­dus­try/ man­u­fac­tur­ing;

● ex­cel­lence in agri­cul­ture and pri­mary pro­duc­tion;

● best new busi­ness;

● ex­cel­lence in com­mer­cial and pro­fes­sional busi­ness ser­vices;

● ex­cel­lence in tourism and hos­pi­tal­ity;

● ex­cel­lence in sus­tain­abil­ity; and

● cham­pion of busi­ness. Deb North, from Yar­ra­wonga’s Aqua­zone @ Lake Mul­wala, won the ex­cel­lence in tourism and hos­pi­tal­ity award last year and urged busi­nesses to nom­i­nate for next year’s awards.

‘‘If you are pas­sion­ate about what you do, what you bring and the team be­hind you that makes it hap­pen, then take a mo­ment to nom­i­nate your busi­ness to­day,’’ Ms North said.

‘‘This truly is a ter­rific way to recog­nise mem­bers of your team and re­ward their com­mit­ment to your suc­cess, and don’t for­get the night is to­tally tax de­ductible.’’
