Dads are goanna make kids smile
The children at Eilleen Taylor Kindergarten got more than they bargained for at their recent Father’s Day celebrations, meeting a selection of some of Australia’s most iconic animals when Brandon from Wildlife xPosure stopped by. Zak Houzaife got up close and personal with a goanna.
Eilleen Taylor Kindergarten got creative to celebrate Father’s Day, bringing a range of famous Australian animals into the classroom.
Two weeks ago, it held an animal and reptile extravaganza, which had the children and fathers on the edge of their seats, with some slightly petrified.
‘‘The children all had a dad or special person come to share in a lovely lunch in the beautiful natural surrounds of the kindergarten and then everyone participated in a wildlife show presented by Brandon from Wildlife xPosure,’’ teacher Leia McLeod said.
The children met and handled animals such as a parrot, kookaburra, python, crocodile, lizard, goanna and a green tree frog.
‘‘This was a brilliant learning opportunity for both the children and their loved ones. Being able to explore nature is a wonderful learning opportunity,’’ Ms McLeod said.
‘‘At Eilleen Taylor we value our beautiful natural environments.’’
