Foster wins in best time
Round two of the McDonalds Time Trial Super Series was held on Saturday in sunny but windy conditions.
Over a tough distance of 28 km, 12 riders took up the challenge to gain more points in the series.
Wayde Foster once again showed his recent improvement by taking out the race on handicap. Riding in 49 minutes one second, it was a massive personal best by more than two minutes for Foster.
Second on handicap went to round one winner and new rider Troy Alexander. His time of 42:09 (39.8 km/h) was exceptionally quick and considering he has only just taken up competitive cycling makes this even more remarkable.
Third went to Finley farmer Heath White, who also rode a personal best on the day.
Fastest time of the day went to Club Champion Travis Lindhe who posted a slick 38:06 time (44 km/h average). Lindhe is training for next weekend’s Tour of Bright and will be happy with this time. Handicap order with actual times in brackets as follows: Wayde Foster (49:01), 1; Troy Alexander (42:09), 2; Heath White (44:59), 3; Daryl Frost (49:30), 4; Nic Torney (42:19), 5; Rene Mol (51:23), 6; Steve Gemmill (55.13), 7; Myles Higgins
(45:58), 8; Charlie White (42:55), 9; Travis Lindhe (38:06), 10; Gary Smith (45:38), 11; Bob Nichols (48.40), 12.
Saturday’s race saw the end of an era with the club now holding races on Sundays at 10 am.
Organisers are hopeful for more participation with this new time slot.
Please note there will be no race next weekend with racing to return on Sunday, December 9, for round three of the super series.
The following weekend, Sunday, December 16, will see the highlight of CobramBarooga Cycling Club’s racing calendar with the George Goodwin Memorial to be run. All licensed riders welcome.
