Holiday program at Cobram library

Craft on tap at Cobram library is on during the school holidays. Come down and make your own holiday bucket list or rockin’ birds. Moving paper fish is on at the library on January 10 at 10.30 am. Come along and learn how to make fantastic looking fish. Make your own dream catchers on January 17 at 10.30 am. Enjoy weaving and threading to make beautiful dream catchers.

Probus meeting

Cobram-Barooga Probus Club will meet on Monday, January 14, at 10 am in the Senior Citizens Cub Rooms, Cobram. Guest speaker will be Rachel McKay. Ms McKay is Cobram Cemetery Trust secretary/treasurer. She has been leading walks at the cemetery, which have been enjoyed by those attending. Visiting Probians welcome.

Summer reading bingo

Play reading bingo game at Cobram library and collect a small prize every time you tick off any four boxes. Tick off all the boxes and enter the draw to win an iPod touch. Competitio­n closes on January 31.

Cobram CWA night branch

Club meets second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. Historical society

Cobram Historical Society meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the old school in Punt Rd. Meetings start at 8 pm. The National Library of Australia has advised the Cobram Historical Society that the 1930 to 1954 editions of the Cobram Courier have been digitised and are now being placed on Trove. To access the Courier newspapers from 1914 to 1954, either Google ‘Trove’ or visit the National Library website at www.nla.gov.au/ and click on ‘Collection­s’ and then ‘Newspapers’. The society meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 8 pm at the Old School. New members are welcome.

Put on a red hat

Want to be part of the Red Hat Society? The ‘Raving Reds’ group is looking for new members — women aged 50 and over who have a zest for life and wish to take part in a fun-loving friendly group that has no rules and no committees. The only exception is the dress code: a red hat (or something frivolous) worn with a purple outfit. The group meets regularly at various venues. The Cobram Quilters meet at Cobram Community House on the second Friday of every month from 9.30 am to 4 pm for social sewing. All welcome to join in for the whole day or part of it. Anyone new to patchwork can ask for help, and current members will be glad to share their experience. The club also meets on the fourth Sunday of every month at the Yarroweyah hall.

Men’s Shed

The Cobram Men’s Shed in Punt Rd, next to Cobram Community House, is open Tuesday to Thursday from 9 am to noon. Cobram District Health Ladies’ Auxiliary meets on the second Thursday of the month (except for January and July) at 2 pm in the hospital’s board room.
