The Cobram Courier

Last Sunday we had the playing of the Rowland-Sutcliffe shield at Cobram which consists of 12 men and 12 ladies from each playing area battle it out in fours format. Goulburn Valley playing area won the event overall and from the players playing that day regional sides were selected to represent Goulburn Murray at the regional finals in April at Moama. Ladies social day on Monday saw the team of Lesley King, Phyllis Escott and Jill Toohey win the day. Ladies have their first round of their 100 up event coming up this Monday and each Monday as far as possible till completed. Tuesday we had the medley pairs being played with 18 teams competing but unfortunately we have no results to advise. Friday we had 24 players attending Keith's Friday which is delightful to see numbers attending. Winners of the day with a great score were Brian Baldwin and Bob Adams with +27. Runners-up with +15 were Carol Wigg and Doug Pocknee. Best first game winners were Ken Anderson and Karen Bruce with a great score of +16 but unfortunately they could not manage to win the second. Best second game winners were Geoff Brentnall and Bob Thatcher with +8. Immediately after Keith's Friday we had the special general meeting called to discuss various matters that have been brought up at a previous delegates meeting and needed our clubs' views on the matters.

Our delegates now have a clear view on what matters to our club and they can vote on them at the next delegates meeting to be held at our club on April 5.

One item of interest to all members is that the greens will be closed on March 21, 22 and 23 to allow spraying of both greens so all members please note. Pennant this last weekend saw the playing of the preliminary finals. In Midweek pennant in division one, Numurkah defeated Numurkah Golf so play Tocumwal in the grand final.

In division two it was a very close finish with both teams level after 63 ends and an extra end had to be played.

Numurkah won by one shot so they play Numurkah Golf in the grand final. All midweek grand finals will be at Finley bowling club next Friday.

In Saturday pennant finals in division one, Wunghnu defeated Numurkah Golf so they now go on to play Cobram.

In division two, Katandra West defeated Numurkah so Katandra now play Cobram in the grand final. In division three Numurkah defeated Cobram and now go on to play our team in the grand final.

Division four Numurkah Golf defeated Finley so Numurkah Golf now will play Wunghnu in the grand final.

All the Saturday grand finals will be at Berrigan so we hope you can make it to Berrigan to cheer on our players,

You wlll also be able to keep an eye on all the other games. Should be a great day.

After the presentations at Berrigan it will be all back to the club rooms to help celebrate the win.
