Big night for locals

Another season of the Murray Valley Junior Cricket Associatio­n has come to an end, with award winners being crowned.

Talent right across the board was acknowledg­ed on the night, with under-16 and under-14 best and fairest, most valuable player, batting average, bowling average and encouragem­ent awards being handed out.

It was a big night for local talent, with Barooga’s Samuel Trembath taking out the under-14s best and fairest award.

Trembath also took home the most valuable player award and finished the season with the best

batting average in the competitio­n.

Fellow Hawks player, Murphy Stephens, ended the season by taking out the best bowling average award, ending with 10 wickets at 9.60 aggregate.

Five players from the region made their way

into the junior team of the year, with Lenny Power (Cobram), Samuel Trembath (Barooga/ captain), Crue Lucas (Katamatite), Murphy Stephens (Barooga) and Eamon Hyde (Cobram) all in the team.
