It was goals galore for the Cobram Tigers on Saturday as it downed Murray League nemesis Barooga in convincing fashion.
The local rivalry started out close with a goal to each side, however Cobram soon turned on the accelerator.
A 43-to-seven quarter-time lead to the Tigers extended to a 96-to-eight margin at the main break.
As the second half commenced the side continued to pile on the goals, with 32.13 (205) to 4.2 (26) the final result.
Cobram coach John Brunskill said the Tigers’ pressure was good throughout the game.
“Our tackling was probably the best we’ve seen this year,” Brunskill said.
“We probably could have fell away with the heat and relaxed a bit but I don’t think we did, we kept our foot down pretty well all day.”
Darcy Pridham-McCormack had a stand-out performance up front, scoring 10 goals and setting up his teammates, while Harry Beasley, Luca Allen and Tyron Baden were among the Tigers’ best.
“You could name the whole side, she’s a pretty team effort,” he said.
“We’ve got some really strong leaders in our footy club and they’re only kids.”
For Barooga it was a disappointing result, coach Jackson Trengove saying it was important they stuck to what they were doing.
