No more ultrasound service for Cobram

-

Ultrasound services within NCN Health Cobram have now closed, meaning patients must now travel to Shepparton or Yarrawonga for service access.

Medical imaging provider I-MED Goulburn Valley, who provided ultrasound capability for NCN Health, notified it about the May 2 closure in mid-April.

It follows the closure of ultrasound services in Numurkah in January 2022. NCN Health now no longer provides ultrasound across its network.

NCN Health director of operations Justin Sullivan said I-MED Goulburn Valley contacted them about the decision, citing ongoing challenges sourcing and retaining staff in the region.

“Unfortunately, I-MED operates independently of NCN Health and we have no control over these organisational changes,” he said.

“We understand I-MED have sent out communication of the closure to providers, however we are not sure how extensive this communication has been.

“We anticipate this closure to have a significant impact on our local community.”

Mr Sullivan said normal X-ray services provided through Murray Medical Imaging were not affected and would continue at the Cobram campus. “We are currerntly working on finding a solution to reinstate local access for ultrasound at both NCN Health Numurkah and Cobram campuses,” he said.
