This is a male-dominated occupation (90 per cent) and the average full-time pay is $951 a week. The most important skills for landscape gardeners – apart from a green thumb – are the ability to control equipment and systems, talk to others, think critically and listen actively.
The role of an interior designer is to analyse a space, plan a design and recommend materials, furniture and products to fit a functional and aesthetic brief. People interested in this line of work should be able to think creatively, visualise, comprehend requests and manage administrative tasks. The average full-time interior designer is 42 years old, works 41.6 hours a week and earns $1019 a week. Most hold a degree such as a Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) but vocational qualifications, such as a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration, are also available.
