PRECISION METAL TRADE WORKER
This occupational group includes workers such as engravers, locksmiths, watchmakers and clock repairers. It has a small workforce, with only about 8000 working across Australia. The Good Universities Guide recommends people consider a career in watch and clock repairs if they enjoy technical work, are patient, tidy and organised, and have good eyesight, sensitivity of touch, and hand-eye coordination. A common qualification held by these workers is a Certificate III in Jewellery Manufacture, which is studied alongside an apprenticeship.
