This oc­cu­pa­tional group in­cludes work­ers such as en­gravers, lock­smiths, watch­mak­ers and clock re­pair­ers. It has a small work­force, with only about 8000 work­ing across Aus­tralia. The Good Uni­ver­si­ties Guide rec­om­mends peo­ple con­sider a ca­reer in watch and clock re­pairs if they en­joy tech­ni­cal work, are pa­tient, tidy and or­gan­ised, and have good eye­sight, sen­si­tiv­ity of touch, and hand-eye co­or­di­na­tion. A com­mon qual­i­fi­ca­tion held by these work­ers is a Cer­tifi­cate III in Jewellery Man­u­fac­ture, which is stud­ied along­side an ap­pren­tice­ship.
