FKP’s $210 million The Milton Residences is set to revive Brisbane’s Inner West with its vibrant ground floor retail promenade, along with the iconic Eiffel Tower on Park Road, which is shining a light on the renowned dining strip.

With FKP as one of the sponsors, the structure came alive at an official ‘Switching on the Lights’ ceremony to celebrate Bastille Day on 14 July, 2013.

Local ‘luminary’ Heath Williamson from Firefly lighting, who was engaged to assist with the renovations of the iconic structure, is also part of the creative duo appointed to revive the iconic gasometer frame at FKP’s $1.1 billion Gasworks precinct at Newstead.

According to FKP Executive General Manager of Developments QLD Gary Kordic, the recent renovations to the Park Road dining promenade will significantly enhance the streetscape and breathe new life into Park Road.

“Park Road is undeniably one of Brisbane’s most recognised dining destinations and while the area is definitely in need of a face lift, it is enjoying a resurgence,” he said.

“The new light installation will incorporate an hourly light show, with plenty of colourful variations, reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower in Paris which will contribute to the rejuvenation and resurgence of the popular dining precinct and wider Milton area.

“This area is set for unprecedented growth in the coming years, and we’re already beginning to see the start of that transformation with more quality dining and shopping options moving into Milton, and we plan to add a host of quality options to the mix.”

Specialty beer bar, The Scratch, is located opposite The Milton Residences and serves carefully selected draught and bottled beers sourced from craft breweries around the world and has been named among the top 10 beer bars in Brisbane.

Mr Kordic says FKP plans to build upon the precinct’s reputation by targeting a diverse mix of boutique operators for the 1,200sqm of retail space located on the ground floor of The Milton Residences development.

“The Milton Residences, which is located just off Park Road on Railway Terrace, is set to revive Brisbane’s Inner West with its vibrant ground floor retail promenade,” he said.

“It will accommodate five retail tenancies, adding to an existing 160 cafes, bars and restaurants, 75 fashion boutiques and 60 speciality stores, all within a one kilometre radius of the development.

“Our vision is to complement the mix already on offer with new and exciting dining options, including cafes, restaurants, fresh food and quality fast food, aimed at capturing the after-work and residential markets.

“With the extension of the retail promenade into Railway Terrace, Milton is set to become an iconic destination for entertainment and retail.”

The Milton Residences has secured more than $123 million in contracts for 217 apartments - meaning that the development is now more than 70 per cent sold.

The development will ultimately feature 298 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and Sky Homes and is expected to be completed by 2015.

Along with adding new retail, The Milton Residences – starting from just $410,000 - will include a multi-million dollar upgrade to the Milton Railway Station entry. A limited number of 3 bedroom apartments from $685,000 have also just been released to the market.
