DESIGNED TO EXTEND
AN EXTENSION-READY home design is expected to attract first-home buyers, downsizers and investors when it is launched by Lend Lease on Monday.
EVO Homes, designed by Burbank Homes, begins as a two-bedroom, one-bathroom dwelling, but comes ready to extend with plumbing, footings and approvals for an added bedroom and ensuite.
Lend Lease Queensland communities general manager Guy Gibson said EVO Homes represented affordable and forward thinking.
“Moving and renovating your home are both expensive and, at times, daunting undertakings,” he said.
“There’s often a strong desire to get into the market at an affordable price point but, in the back of your mind, you know what you’ve bought won’t last you through the next stages of your life, like starting a family.
“EVO Homes allow entry into the market at a price point you can afford with a readymade option for the future.”
The design’s original floorplan includes a large covered terrace adjoining the open-plan living area.
When upgraded, the terrace becomes the new bedroom and ensuite.
Burbank state manager Queensland Louis Sultan said the conversion was simple enough for DIY-savvy homeowners but his builders were also available for the job.
“All the plumbing and drains are already in, so they would just have to put two external walls up and put windows in,” he said. “Otherwise, we do it for $8500.”
He said the first-of-its-kind design was also ready and approved for an added back terrace and extended tandem carport.
EVO Homes, which is exclusive to Lend Lease, will be available at three communities across southeast Queensland with future plans to roll out across Australia.
At Stoneleigh Reserve, 13 will be released in house-and-land packages starting at $259,600.
Mr Sultan said the price point would appeal to firsthome buyers, downsizers and investors and all could benefit from the flexibility of future extensions.
