A CHALLENGING site and one of the largest construction projects in Montville – RCQ Construction’s Gavin Wuiske has his work cut out for him.

Altitude on Montville on the Sunshine Coast will have apartments, a hotel and a restaurant on the Blackall Range.

Mr Wuiske said the recent pour of the restaurant-level slab was a major achievement in the mixed-use project.

“From a construction perspective, it’s a challenging build as the site has a 9m crossfall along its length.

“In order to maintain the building’s height restriction, each unit has been architecturally designed to follow the natural lay of the land,” he said.

“Fifteen separate slab pours separated by intricate blockwork have been scheduled over the next month to complete the structure.

“Sequencing of the slab pours and subcontractor team sizes are critical to ensure that no program delays occur.”

Some of the trees milled from the site will be reused in the project build to create customised bar tops and furniture.

The site is being developed by the Purcell family, who created the Montville Cafe Bar and Grill in 2008.

Altitude will have twobedroom studios with spas on private decks, two-bedroom apartments with coast views, and three-bedroom apartments with rainforest aspect. All apartments will have ocean views and fireplaces.

Prices range from $350,000 to $450,000. Construction of the project is expected to be completed in September.
