Stockland’s $5 billion Aura community is dominating land sales on the Sunshine Coast, figures have revealed.

National Land Survey Program data shows 44 per cent of all new land sales on the Sunshine Coast in 2017-2018 occurred in the 24sq km site on the outskirts of Caloundra.

Aura, which has been designed and constructed to the world’s highest environmental and sustainability standards, posted 746 sales in the past year, according to the data compiled by residential greenfield research firm, Research 4.

Stockland Aura project director Adrian Allen said the strong interest from buyers reflected the building diversity from terrace homes to lots of more than 600sq m. “Aura stands alone in terms of its wide range of new home options and the early delivery of extraordinary community facilities, including a STEM primary school, sports park, skate and scooter park, civic square and three local parks,” he said.

Mr Allen said the site was Australia’s largest masterplanned community under single ownership and would include the largest urban development wetland rehabilitation and stormwater treatment project.

“More than 700ha, or nearly one-third of the site, will be rehabilitated and designated as a conservation area,” Mr Allen said.

Ten new families every week are being welcomed into the community’s first suburb of Baringa and construction has started on a second suburb of Aura Central.

The Aura community has a 30-year plan to build 20,000 houses across its 24sq km site.

The development will include a 90ha city centre with extensive parkland, and education and sporting facilities.

“Our vision is for Aura to become Australia’s most sustainable and liveable city and the demand from buyers is a recognition of this vision and the delivery of community infrastructure early in the life of the community,” Mr Allen said.

Stockland’s Aura development has recorded a massive 746 sales in the past year as strong interest grows in the masterplanned community on the Sunshine Coast.
