BEACH CLUB STYLE

It’s hard not to fall in love with Hamptons style: The clean lines, light open spaces and timeless colour palette evoke long, lazy seaside days – even if your digs are nowhere near the beach.

With a huge number of Australians embracing this style, the team at Porter Davis wanted to put a spin on the classic look by creating something with a little extra flair. Enter Hamptons Beach Club – a signature style created by Porter Davis, which is proving to be one of the company’s most popular looks.

What is Hamptons Beach Club style?

The Hamptons Beach Club style maintains the same classic, timeless base of the traditional Hamptons look, yet with a unique dose of cool factor.

“We play with an injection of colour, layering lush greenery and adapting the style for a more relaxed and tranquil feel – it is the perfect resort-meets-classic look,” Koraly Symeou, interior designer at Porter Davis, said.

Real estate agents, builders and designers in Queensland have witnessed increased interest in the Classic Hamptons style and demand for the lush Resort look. In the past few years, both styles have continued to gain popularity and so the creative team at Porter Davis combined the two to form a new addition to the Resort interior – Hamptons Beach Club.

A typical Hamptons colour palette always features fresh whites and soft greys.

The Hamptons Beach Club style, meanwhile, adds an injection of soft blues, deeper vibrant blues and yellow accents – think contemporary floral print cushions, stripy yellow beach towels and chevronstyle blue and white patterned bar stools. It’s relaxed, laid-back and luxe, it’s chic-coastal decor at its very best.

“It’s an easy design to work with and weave additional colours into, which is ideal for anyone who likes to always be on trend. This season’s indigo blues and pastels would work well with this look,” Ms Symeou said.

Hamptons Beach Club is currently exclusive to the Queensland market.

FOUR WAYS TO GET THE LOOK 1 Fresh pops of colour

“Hamptons Beach Club evokes the tranquillity of being on a summer escape,” Ms Symeou said. And what reminds you of summer? Fresh pops of colour that create a playful and relaxed vibe.

If you’re trying to re-create this look at home, opt for a neutral base with accents of summery colours; think canary yellow hues, natural verdant greenery, nautical-inspired blues and teal-like tones.

2 Tell a story with texture

Senior designer at Porter Davis, Randall Pye, said this version of the Hamptons style was slightly more contemporary. It’s also a style that allows texture and materials to reign supreme.

To complete the Hamptons Beach Club look, textured, handmade-look subway tiles, wall panelling, natural timber, white painted furniture and linen sofas should be used.

3 Look to beach clubs for inspiration

“For this style we took inspiration from the up-market lifestyle health clubs of the Hamptons beach areas,” Mr Pye said.

“Our Hamptons Beach Club style softens some of the formal elements and finishes of Hamptons style and adds a contemporary feel, similar to what you might find in an expensive beachfront club or hotel.”

4 Keep it timeless

“This look has proven popular because it maintains the underlying beauty, style and class of a Hamptons home, but adds a modern twist with slightly more contemporary finishes, materials and detailing,” Mr Pye said.

“Our version is still timeless and elegant but has a more relaxed feel. Overall, the Australian take on the Hamptons is more coastal and has a more relaxed feel than your classic American home. Just think of it as a luxurious beach house, with homage to classic elegance.”
