Surf’s up at Kirra

-

It’s a coastal suburb known for it’s spitting funnels and gnarly swells, and that’s partly why more than 100 retirees have signed up to become its newest residents. The Pavilion North Kirra is the closest retirement village to the ocean on the Gold Coast and the first independent-living retirement community in the southern Gold Coast surfing hamlet of Kirra.

“The Pavilion is addressing the gap in the market for a safe, maintenance-free lifestyle for over60s,” Aura Holdings director Tim Russell said of the vertical village his company is developing.

Demand for the development has seen all 68 apartments in the first 10storey building sell off-the-plan seven months before construction is due for completion.

More than half of the 73 apartments in the second building have also sold, with that tower not to be finished until late next year.

“The level of pre-sales at The Pavilion is highly unusual in medium-density retirement living as owner-occupier purchasers generally prefer to see the completed product before committing,” Colliers director Chris O’Driscoll said in his role as director of sales.

“This, to me, not only highlights the village’s fantastic location but also the need for this type of product on the southern end of the Gold Coast.’’

The pet-friendly complex will feature resort-style facilities including retail shops, a gymnasium, rooftop garden, library, billiards room, and a wine room. A rooftop pool will be a feature of the second building when it is completed next year.

“Nearly all the stage two apartments will have amazing ocean views and the premium

apartments, boasting three bedrooms, a study and walk-in pantry are up to 209 sqm in total floor space,’’ Mr Russell said.

The Lang Street development is 100m from Queensland’s second oldest surf life saving club, and less than 2km from the newly upgraded Gold Coast Airport,.
