Beaut ute com­pe­ti­tion

UTE own­ers are in­vited to en­ter the Beaut Ute Com­pe­ti­tion, at Ca­bool­ture’s four-day an­nual Ur­ban Coun­try Mu­sic Fes­ti­val from April 30-May 3.

The utes will com­pete for tro­phies for best ur­ban ute, tradie’s ute, most feral ute, best re­stored ute and best chick’s ute at Cen­te­nary Lakes. Regis­tra­tion is from 7.30-9.30am on the Satur­day with utes on dis­play from 8am. Ute en­try is $20 or $25 for a dou­ble cat­e­gory en­try. Visit: www.ur­ban­coun­try. com.au.

Sus­pend your dis­be­lief

MUD will fly when the big-tyred 4WDs com­pete in the sec­ond round of the six-round Sus­pen­sion Stuff 4WD Chal­lenge Se­ries at the Scenic Rim Ad­ven­ture Park to­day.

Com­peti­tors do not have to en­ter all six weeks of the com­pe­ti­tion, with win­ners an­nounced for each round. It is a so­cial and fun com­pe­ti­tion, open to stan­dard ve­hi­cles, street mod­i­fied, ex­treme mod­i­fied, out­law and buggy classes.

Com­peti­tor en­try fee is $50 plus camp­ing fees. Spec­ta­tors $5.

The park is on Swan Gully Rd, Bromelton, west of Beaudesert.

Hot rods make a move

THE Bris­bane Hot Rod and Street Ma­chine Spec­tac­u­lar is re­lo­cat­ing to the Gold Coast Con­ven­tion and Ex­hi­bi­tion Cen­tre this year af­ter 41 years. The 42nd show is also mov­ing from May to Novem­ber 19-21. The cen­tre has more than 6500sq m of air­con­di­tioned space with un­der­cover car park­ing.

The Queens­land Hot Rod As­so­ci­a­tion will soon be post­ing in­for­ma­tion sheets, en­try forms and trader book­ing forms on www.qhrp.org.

Fuel for thought

MORE than 260 com­peti­tors will line up for the Aus­tralian Top Fuel Cham­pi­onships next week­end at Wil­low­bank Race­way.

It in­cludes more than 200 sports­man com­peti­tors, seven 7000hp flame-throw­ing Top Fuel­ers, 17 Pro Stock­ers, nine Pro Stock Bikes and seven Pro FX rac­ers.

Top Doorslam­mer and Al­co­hol stal­wart Ben Bray will com­pete against Tony Wed­lock, Rod Har­vey and Joe Sig­norelli.

Action be­gins with qual­i­fy­ing on Satur­day from noon, with the fea­ture cat­e­gories on track from 5pm. Sun­day’s races start at 9am, with fea­ture racing from 11am and fi­nals from 4pm.
