Beaut ute competition
UTE owners are invited to enter the Beaut Ute Competition, at Caboolture’s four-day annual Urban Country Music Festival from April 30-May 3.
The utes will compete for trophies for best urban ute, tradie’s ute, most feral ute, best restored ute and best chick’s ute at Centenary Lakes. Registration is from 7.30-9.30am on the Saturday with utes on display from 8am. Ute entry is $20 or $25 for a double category entry. Visit: www.urbancountry. com.au.
Suspend your disbelief
MUD will fly when the big-tyred 4WDs compete in the second round of the six-round Suspension Stuff 4WD Challenge Series at the Scenic Rim Adventure Park today.
Competitors do not have to enter all six weeks of the competition, with winners announced for each round. It is a social and fun competition, open to standard vehicles, street modified, extreme modified, outlaw and buggy classes.
Competitor entry fee is $50 plus camping fees. Spectators $5.
The park is on Swan Gully Rd, Bromelton, west of Beaudesert.

Hot rods make a move
THE Brisbane Hot Rod and Street Machine Spectacular is relocating to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre this year after 41 years. The 42nd show is also moving from May to November 19-21. The centre has more than 6500sq m of airconditioned space with undercover car parking.
The Queensland Hot Rod Association will soon be posting information sheets, entry forms and trader booking forms on www.qhrp.org.
Fuel for thought
MORE than 260 competitors will line up for the Australian Top Fuel Championships next weekend at Willowbank Raceway.
It includes more than 200 sportsman competitors, seven 7000hp flame-throwing Top Fuelers, 17 Pro Stockers, nine Pro Stock Bikes and seven Pro FX racers.
Top Doorslammer and Alcohol stalwart Ben Bray will compete against Tony Wedlock, Rod Harvey and Joe Signorelli.
Action begins with qualifying on Saturday from noon, with the feature categories on track from 5pm. Sunday’s races start at 9am, with feature racing from 11am and finals from 4pm.
