Take it back to the dealer, tell them you are un­happy they haven’t been able to fix the prob­lem, and take them for a drive in the car to demon­strate the prob­lem. That way there should be no dis­pute over its ex­is­tence.

are very happy with our 2007 Nis­san Pathfinder 2.5-litre diesel au­to­matic, but at a re­cent car­a­van rally we were in­formed that there was a prob­lem with the tim­ing belt/chain fail­ing. The per­son mak­ing the claim stated that he had seen the blown mo­tor due to a failed tim­ing belt/chain. Nowhere in the ser­vice man­ual can we find a ref­er­ence to the tim­ing belt/ chain need­ing to be ser­viced and/or re­placed. As we have not en­coun­tered any prob­lems ei­ther with the ve­hi­cle, we are in­ter­ested to know if you have heard of any such prob­lems. Bill Wood­house
