History up for auction
UNIVERSITY of Western Sydney strategic planning expert Dr Paul Rowland has decided to sell his unit in the Torbreck complex, at Highgate Hill.
The building was Queensland’s first high-rise apartment block. It was built in 1959 and heritagelisted in 2000.
Dr Rowland has owned the 10th floor apartment in the Dornoch Tce building since 2003.
He lived in it for about six months last year, but has been renting it out otherwise.
The two-bedroom unit has a large balcony and views of the CBD, Brisbane River and The Gabba.
It is to be auctioned on July 30 through Ray White CBD Residential as part of a mega auction with more than 60 properties to be offered under the hammer.
Dr Rowland said the apartment, which still has its original kitchen, had a sense of Brisbane’s past about it.
‘‘It also has the best views of Brisbane,’’ he said.
