Retro glamour on a hilltop

YOU can’t mistake the Hollywood cool of this 900sq m home at The Gap.

Inspired by modernist architect Frank Lloyd Wright, features design elements such as sandstone walls inside and out, American Oak parquetry floors, designer wallpaper, thick wool carpets and glamorous living spaces.

The front entry is marked by sandstone walls and Tuscan-style manicured gardens and sculptures, with the home at the top of a hill and at the end of a winding, private driveway.

Inside the front door is an elevated library which looks to the sunken formal lounge and out to the rear landscaped gardens and tennis court.

To the left is the casual living area, formal dining room, study and kitchen; all of which are finished with glossy timber parquetry floors, ex-

retro lavish, cept the kitchen which boasts rustic stone tiles.

The kitchen is a dream work space featuring a walk-in pantry with fridge alcove, stainless steel appliances and antique-style Falcon oven with gas hobs.

A sandstone fireplace warms the study, and five metre ceilings and a sculpture alcove create an inviting space. Pendant lamps, half walls and sandstone pillars throughout the living areas continue the retro glamour aesthetic.

The main bedroom is an enviable room with a walk-in wardrobe with integrated shelving, a private terrace, and an ensuite that almost matches the size of the bedroom.

Black damask wallpaper, a double vanity, a huge glass shower and sunken spa bath place this ensuite above any other.

The other three bedrooms all have walk-in wardrobes, ensuites with their own colour schemes and private outdoor terraces accessed via glass sliding doors. The media room is also in the bedroom wing of the home and features a cellar.

Outside is a stone loggia overlooking a swimming pool and spa that can be directly accessed via the formal dining room.

The landscaped lawn leads to the full-size tennis court via a staircase carved into a small cliff covered in manicured hedges.

Off from the tennis court is a sauna and bathroom, while a cabana overlooks the area.
