Best of both worlds on offer

LOVE your freedom but also crave the lifestyle of an inner-city property development?

Three two-storey homes at 8 Redcar Street, Bulimba, are offering the design and planning of a townhouse development yet are totally freehold, meaning no body corporate fees or regulation.

Developed by R4 Property Group, managing director Matt Rogers said the idea for the development came about when he asked himself, ‘‘where would I like to live?’’

He wanted to create a boutique development that allowed more freedom than a traditional apartment complex, as well as and the ability to really ‘‘own the property’’.

The result is freehold, semi-detached properties with private driveways, yards and street frontage. 8 Redcar Street is the latest development of this type built by R4 Property Group, and was designed to be slightly more upmarket.

‘‘Once you’ve bought, it it’s yours, you don’t have to pay body corporate fees or be responsible for anyone else,’’ Mr Rogers said.

He said the residences offered more living space than a standard apartment on a 270sq m block and would be suited to people looking to downsize or those wanting more space than an apartment close to the city.

Designed by award-winning Monster Ideas Architects, the terrace-style homes feature 170sq m of living space and are finished with quality fittings including home automation for lights and sound, airconditioning and a double carport with storage space.

Each residence has three bedrooms, a study, multi-purpose room and back yard.

All bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, an ensuite to the main bedroom, city views from the top floor, stylish kitchens with stone benchtops and European appliances, and private balconies and decks.

Just 400 metres from Oxford Street’s restaurant, shopping and entertainment district, the development is only four kilometres from the CBD.

Construction has started and it is expected to be completed by August or September 2011.
