For commuters, it’s all about the location, location, location
WHEN Phillip and Josefina Phillipos first moved to Queensland from Victoria 12 years ago they chose Victoria Point for their new home. It was the ability to live close to the water that attracted the couple to the suburb, which is about 35km east of the Brisbane CBD.
Unfortunately the payoff for that lifestyle was they weren’t particularly close to their jobs, so long travel to work became part of their lives.
That is all about to change now with the couple planning to move a little closer in, to Manly West. They recently bought a townhouse in the Bale Vue Residences at Manly West, as an investment.
But they have now changed their minds and decided as it is so close to work, they will move into the townhouse and sell their Victoria Point home. They should settle on the townhouse by the end of the year.
Mr Phillipos said with their children grown up and out of home, they decided they didn’t need such a big house anymore.
He said the benefit of buying at Manly West was that they were still close to the water but also their travel time to work would be significantly reduced.
“It is very close to work,’’ Mr Phillipos said.
He works at the Port of Brisbane on Fisherman’s Island.
From the new property it will take him about 12 minutes to travel to work.
Travel time for his wife will also be significantly reduced.
“My wife works in the city, it takes about 45 minutes (at the moment) for her to get to work,’’ he said.
The couple have bought a three- bedroom, two -bathroom townhouse.
Mr Phillipos said it was the quality of the development as well as the suburb that attracted them to buy in Bale Vue Residences.
He said while there was a large shopping centre at Victoria Point they would be closer to the shopping area in Manly and the townhouse was just a few minutes from the water.
Mr Phillipos said in the future if he stepped back from full time to part time work, it meant he was in an area where he could take advantage of all the lifestyle benefits.
