Market still hot despite winter chill

The Courier-Mail - Property - - MARKET WRAP - TEELA JURGENSEN

THE chilly winter weather hasn’t cooled off our property market, with many agents still reporting good sales and plenty of buyer interest.

Johnston Dixon CEO John Johnston said that with the school holidays now over, the Brisbane market was likely to improve even further.

Mr Johnston said that current low stock, especially in the mid to high end of the market, low interest rates and increasing demand equated to a positive outlook for the rest of the season.

RP Data figures show listings across Queensland have dropped this week, but there are still some beauties on the market.

Former rugby league coach Bob Bennett, the brother of NRL coach Wayne Bennett, is taking his luxury Helensvale property to auction next month.

Bob is well-known in football circles for both his playing and coaching abilities and has just been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for his services to rugby league in Papua New Guinea.

Mr Bennett coached the Papua New Guinea national side for 11 years, taking them to two World Cups.

His five-bedroom waterfront home, at 104 The Peninsula, Helensvale, is set on 683sq m with a private pontoon and has a price guide of more than $840,000.

Marketing agent is Philip Chillemi from McGrath Estate Agents. The property will be auctioned on August 3.

Another upcoming auction, this one for those dreaming of sunny holidays in warmer climes, is a beach shack at Boyne Island, south of Gladstone.

The fifth-generation Ballantyne family property is on the market for the first time in more than 70 years and has been used as both a holiday home and full-time residence at various stages.

Surrounded by million-dollar abodes, the two-bedroom waterfront pad is ripe for renovation or a rebuild, marketing agent Julie Wood of Ray White Gladstone, says. It will be auctioned on August 9.

Place New Farm agent Ann-Karyn Fraser says there has been plenty of interest from local, interstate and overseas buyers for a luxurious Pullenvale estate at 457 Grandview Rd.

Scheduled to go to auction on August 7, the property has been completely refurbished since it sold for $3.985 million in 2011.

It includes a five-bedroom home, two-bedroom gatekeeper’s cottage and pool house with home cinema, set on 4ha.

RP Data records show the property last sold for $3.985 million in 2011.

Bob Bennett is selling his home at 104 The Peninsula, Helensvale; and (below) overseas buyers have shown interest in 457 Grandview Rd, Pullenvale.
