PACKAGES PROVIDE A TOP 10 HIT
SPRINGFIELD Lakes is flying the flag for Queensland, emerging as the only suburb in the state to make the national top 10 most popular house and land packages.
Internal search data by realestate.com.au put Springfield Lakes as the most viewed suburb in the state for house and land packages, with the suburb coming in second nationally behind Berwick in Victoria.
REA Group chief economist Nerida Conisbee said Queensland dominated demand for master-planned communities, but was not as prominent when it came to house and land packages.
After Springfield Lakes, the most popular suburbs searched for house and land packages in Queensland were North Lakes, Mango Hill, Pimpama, Rochedale, Thornlands, Coomera, Yarrabilba, Caboolture and Jimboomba.
Matthew Wallace, managing director of Lendlease’s Communities business, said with “enviable amenity” at Springfield Lakes’ doorstep, the development was now seeing some early owners look to upgrading within the suburb.
“We are seeing a trend towards residents already in Springfield Lakes upgrading to new areas within the community. Demand for family blocks which offer some backyard, wider frontage, four bedrooms and double car garage continue to be most popular with lots over 400sq m producing the highest sales in the past 18 months.”
Four bedrooms and double car garage was the most popular configuration of house, with land most commonly over 400sq m.
House and land packages run from $380,000 to over $550,000. Around 70 per cent of final lakeside address “The Peninsula” had sold out, with Lendlease set to release its first blocks of land in its neighbouring community Springfield Rise in May, priced from $192,500.
Barbara and Christopher Mason ( pictured above) are among the newcomers drawn to Springfield Lakes, having sold the home they’d lived in for 20 years in Adelaide.
“We wanted to be part of a community. I think if you live with younger people, you get a good mix as opposed to going into a retirement village. I still want a house and garden.” The couple expect their new home to be ready by Christmas.
