On the couch
My most treasured possession is … a little teddy bear I’ve had since I was a baby. The word that best describes me is … tenacious. I’ve got it tattooed on my arm to remind me never to give up. My first job was … at Big W, in the fitting rooms. I also had to make store announcements. My earliest sporting memory is … when I was about six, coming last in the 100-metres race at the athletics carnival. My greatest achievement is … winning a gold medal [with the Diamonds] at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last year. My favourite smell is … [teammate] Romelda Aiken’s perfume. I always borrow some; it’s Endless Love by Victoria’s Secret. A book I couldn’t put down was … Tomorrow, When the War Began by John Marsden. Sports I like to watch are … tennis, basketball, AFL and netball. The attribute most important to sporting success is … You’ve got to have a really good attitude to perform and win in a team environment. It’s not the individual, it’s the team. A song that forces me to sing along whenever I hear it is … Beyoncé’s Best Thing I Never Had. The question I’m most often asked is … is your hair real? I relax … by going to the beach at Burleigh [Gold Coast]; it clears my mind. My next challenge is … to win the ANZ championships with the Firebirds and make the Diamonds for the World Cup in August. My idea of complete happiness is … being with my friends and family and playing the sport I love. I’d also like to have my own training business or gym eventually, next to a beach where I’d live with a beautiful husband and a golden retriever in a duplex, with my best friend next door. The point of life is … to live it to the fullest; you never know when it’s going to end. And to take a few risks and have no regrets.
I’m often asked, is my hair real?
