SWAP THE BIKINI FOR UGG BOOTS

- ALEXANDRIA UTTING

DON’T let the warmer temperatures we experienced at the weekend fool you – winter is here.

The first day of winter is set to bring cooler temperatures from this afternoon onwards, with the mercury falling to a minimum of 9C by tomorrow.

However, average daily temperatures will sit around 20C for most of the week.

Sam Campbell from the Brisbane office of the Bureau of Meteorology said the warmer air mass lingering over Queensland during May would move on from the beginning of June.

“From late Monday and Tuesday onwards, we’ll be getting a colder air mass and that’s really going to drop the temperatures by about 5C from what we saw last week,” Mr Campbell said.

“These temperatures are fairly average for this time of year and they’re only about 2C below the June average for last year.”
