Sight to behold
EYE on the Reef recruit Andrea Lanham sees a bit part for everyone to play in protecting the Great Barrier Reef.
The British drama graduate was an “honorary marine naturalist for a day” on her outer-reef trip aboard eco-catamaran Passions of Paradise.
“It’s not dead or dying,” the free-diver said. “But it does deserve our utmost respect.’’
The 21-year-old told of a “fantasy world” of colour, life and endless coral gardens in the waters off Cairns.
As part of the Eye on the Reef program, some of the two million visitors a year to the Reef can opt to play their part as an honorary marine naturalist and capture a “snapshot” of the natural wonder.
