Way of the future for western drivers


MORE than 20,000 people had a sneak peek at the $1.5 billion Legacy Way tunnel yesterday, walking through before it officially opens to traffic this month.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk described the walk-through as a “once in a lifetime event”.

“This sneak pre- view inside the award-winning Legacy Way tunnel is a unique experience e for the whole family y and I am excited to welcome the tens of thousands of peoplee who registered to have an exclusive look at the city’s newest road link,” Cr Quirk said.

“The team is now working its way through 80,000 individual checks as part of the commission­ing process.”

The Legacy Way will connect the Western Freeway with t the ICB.
