ENERGY SUCKERS

-

Portable electric heaters are among the worst when it comes to chewing up your energy but there is a simple way to keep an eye on consumption, Armansin says.

“Every unit has a compliance plate with the wattage listed on it, wattage is generally around 1000 to 2400 watts, 2400 watts is the most you can have plugged into one soakage,’’ she says. “We pay on average 28c a kilowatt hour, if we are using a 2400kw heater, which can be very small, that will cost around 67c an hour for every hour they are on.”

Electric throw rugs operate at a maximum of 150 watts and use minimal energy.
