Hart’s final serve

DORIS Hart, a 1950s tennis star who was the second woman to complete a career Grand Slam, has died at age 89.

Hart, rated the world’s top women’s tennis player in 1951, died at her home in Coral Gables, Florida, the Internatio­nal Tennis Hall of Fame announced yesterday.

She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1969.

Hart became the first player in tennis history to complete a career boxed set, triumphs in all four Grand Slam events in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Margaret Court Smith and Martina Navratilov­a also achieved the feat.
