A 22-YEAR-OLD Australian rules football player has died of an apparent heart attack during a reserve-grade match in Melbourne.
Club officials said yesterday that Northern Saints Football Club player Mohamed Ali Jamil Allouche collapsed after kicking a goal during the game at suburban Fawkner on Saturday.
He was rushed to hospital but died shortly after. The match against Avondale Heights was later called off.
It follows the death of 29year-old rugby league player Zane Purcell last month while playing for the Lower Clarence reserves at Ballina.
