Towers get green light

A $430 million triple-tower apartment development will be given the green light by Brisbane City Council’s planning committee this morning.

The Sunland project, dubbed Grace on Coronation, is on the old ABC Toowong state headquarters site and features three glass towers that have been likened to champagne flutes.

Two of the towers will be 24 levels high, while the third will be 27 levels high, allowing for 555 units and eight villas in the residential development.

Under the city plan the area has a height limit of 15 storeys.

But Mayor Graham Quirk said it could go higher because it had been identified in the city plan as a “landmark site”. MATTHEW KILLORAN
