Healing continues with death house demolition
WORK has started on the demolition of a Cairns house where eight children were murdered in December.
The Murray St property in the suburb of Manoora, which became the scene of one of Australia’s most shocking massacres, underwent asbestos removal yesterday.
Heavy machinery will arrive this week to complete the demolition job on the threebedroom fibro house.
“This is ... a very key milestone,” Australian Red Cross community healing project coordinator Michael White said.
“Not only aesthetically for the community, but also for the healing process of people’s emotions and coming to a point where they feel they can move forward positively.”
