EMERGING ACTORS VIE FOR LEDGER’S LEGACY
ONE of these Australian actors has the potential to be our next big Hollywood star.
That is according to industry heavyweights Vince Vaughn, Rose Byrne and Ben Mendelsohn.
The judges have selected 20 up-and-coming actors to battle it out for the coveted annual Heath Ledger Scholarship at tomorrow night’s glitzy Australians In Film event in Los Angeles.
Stars of some of Australia’s biggest television dramas, including Wentworth, A Place To Call Home, Home and Away and Puberty Blues, made the shortlist, including Joel Jackson, Matt Levett, Geraldine Viswanathan, Harry Richardson, Millie Samuels, Mojean Aria and TJ Power.
The scholarship is intended to foster the education and career development of Australian actors in the US.
Flying the Queensland flag is young actor Lily Sullivan (pictured) who featured in Puberty Blues and Mental. Being awarded this prestigious gong has the potential to open doors and give the winner a leg up in the notoriously fickle US market. Other nominees include Ashleigh Cummings, Arianwen ParkesLockwood, David Berry and Shareena Clanton.
Previous winners include Cody Fern, James Mackay, Anna McGahan, Ryann Corr and Bella Heathcote.
