Raids net neo-Nazi materials

A SELF-PROCLAIMED neoNazi, who has a swastika tattooed on the side of his head, is among 61 people nabbed by police during drug raids.

Detectives from Task Force Maxima uncovered neo-Nazi paraphernalia during the sting, targeting properties from the state’s far north down to Queensland’s south and southwest areas.

Police seized weapons, including a semiautomatic rifle, along with ammunition and a quantity of explosive black powder.

Drugs were also a focus and police said methamphetamines, cocaine and steroids were uncovered during the searches.

Task Force Maxima Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said at one rural Cooktown property, a 49-year-old resident “self-identified” to officers as a “neo-Nazi”. TOM SNOWDON
